Prominent Nigerians including A previous Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and a previous Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo, have once more require the restrtucturing of the nation.
Both men talked in Abuja amid general society presentation of a book, 'Nigeria: The Forsaken Road to Nationhood and Development', composed by a resigned representative and Nigeria's previous Ambassador to Switzerland, Dr. Humphrey Orjiako.
Anyaoku said Nigeria had failed to meet expectations because of its current 36-states structure, where every one of the states were subject to the focal government for survival.
He included that it was time the nation returned to territorial governments.
"I think the Nigeria we have, of 36 unifying units now, is not working. The nation keeps on failing to meet expectations on account of the 36 states we have now. Around 27 of the states can't pay the compensations of their laborers."
On his part, Soludo said the present structure of the nation was obsolete and would not upgrade its advancement, depicting the Federal Government as a noteworthy requirement to the states.
"The Federal Government in Nigeria is a noteworthy imperative to the states and that is the reason a few of us trust that the present structure that we have is for a period we no more live in.
"The present structure was intended to share and devour the oil lease, and I have contended that the structure that is intended for utilization can't be effective for creation. Along these lines, we realize that it will have its own expansive influences."
